Let Your Light Shine - Youth Ministry and Vocations

français

Your gift to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal is nurturing the faith of youth and building a culture of vocations.

Ministries that build up the church are made possible by gifts to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal – everything from catechetics and RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) to Foundations: Exploring Our Faith sessions in local parishes to the two-year Lay Formation program.

Youth Ministry and Vocations in the diocese of Saskatoon is coordinated by Colm Leyne. He points to the importance of initiatives such as the recent revival of Search weekends, in which youth come to encounter Jesus Christ, as well as the need to work together with parishes and other youth organizations to evangelize and form youth, and to promote vocations. “To encourage vocations is to show the struggle of holiness, the struggle of just living your life daily,” he said.

Youth make a faith recommitment as part of a Search weekend - an intense experience of God’s love that is once again being offered in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon.

Youth ministry encourages an awareness of God’s call.

Vocations: Fr. Michael Yaremko and Fr. Edward Gibney were ordained priests for the Diocese of Saskatoon in 2017.

The Bishop’s Cup basketball tournament gives youth and families a chance to get to know priests and seminarians in a fun setting.
